The main purpose

The main purpose of my blog is to use a positive outlook in education. I believe that students, or anyone for that matter, strives to achieve more when they have a positive outlook. I am a firm believer in speaking positive, and building children up with positive words. I would like to use this blog as a place for anyone to go that needs a little encourging.

Welcome

Hi, My name is Kari. I would like to welcome you to my blog. Just to tell you a little about myself, I am happily married and have three girls. My husband and I started our own business shortly after we married. We spend most of our time at church, and I am a sunday school teacher. I was a stay at home mom when my girls were young. I would work with my girls and teach them like we were at school everyday. I love to work with children, so I decided to go back to school to be a teacher. I have been attending SVCC on and off for 11 years. I know that sounds crazy but I took a little break when I had my girls. I am graduating this spring at SVCC and plan to go to ODU. I'm almost there. It has taken me quite a while, however, I know it is going to be well worth it when I receive my degree. I know that it will be worth every moment when I get to help other children. To help teach and prepare them for what the future holds for them. I believe that being a teacher will be the greatest opportunity.

Lesson Plan for Counting objects

This lesson plan will help you practice counting different objects. I want you to go to the websites provided and print the worksheets. First go to
http://www.worksheetuniverse.com/trudyturnipsgarden.pdf
Count how many of each vegetable they picked. Then graph your results. Next go to http://printstationary.net/school/grade1/grade1count.php
Count how many objects they ask for and write the number. Finally go to http://www.eslkidstuff.com/Worksheets/PDF/Nos%206-10%20pictures.pdf
Count the objects and write the number. Doing these worksheets are good practice so you can count and write the numbers.

  2. Who would have known about all the websites available to reinforce learning with Virginia's SOL's! I really liked the site about eslkidstuff as there were so many activities and games to supplement instruction within the classroom and at home. This site gives not only teachers but also children a variety of choices.

  3. Your websites really seemed to reinforce the skills from your SOL. I did have trouble opening the sites from your blog page. I was able to find the first one on my own and the worksheet looked great. I could not get the other two sites to work but it made me realize I had not checked to see if my sites worked from my blog either. Good luck with the rest of the class.

  4. The websites are very interesting. They reinforce the SOl well. The worksheets are very good as well. They will be very resourceful and will be good to use in the classroom. Maybe I will be able to use them someday. Thanks!
